Pedometers

Physical activity helps prevent obesity, some cancers, heart disease and diabetes.

However, the 2016 survey for England found that only 66% of men and 58% of women over 19 years old meet the NHS advised target of 150 minutes of moderate activity a week.

Walking is a safe and accessible way for people to meet this target, and studies show that pedometers or other forms of tracker, can encourage people to increase their steps per day and boost their overall activity.

The latest research from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists is that people maintain increases in physical activity 3 years after wearing a pedometer.
